Brooklyn Paramount Theatre

H3 was commissioned to plan and design the renovation of the historic Brooklyn Paramount Theatre at Long Island University. The Theatre opened its doors in 1928 as an ornate movie palace, one of the first to show talking pictures. The venue later intro- duced rock and roll and jazz to the borough, hosting artists such as Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra. The Paramount was converted into a gymnasium in the 1960s and was utilized by many generations of Blackbirds basketball champions.

Along with one of H3’s principals, Rodrigo led the renovation and rejuvenation of the historic Brooklyn Paramount Theatre. Rodrigo produced full design development and construction documents sets. Rodrigo had an essential role in the design phase, developing layouts for the auditorium, grand foyer, new entrance, and common areas. He coordinated with consultants, interior designers, and the LIU management office while partici- pating in multiple site visits.
