Sports Arena

Steel is very strong and rigid, but it also can be molded and formed into any shape. There is flexibility to steel, although it is not often thought of that way. The building’s structure is a space frame system that takes advantage of steel’s flexibility to work both in compression and tension. The facade is made of triangular shapes because triangles are the strongest shape, but they can be manipulated to create almost any form one could want, so they are also flexible. The arena is raised above the plaza so that the area underneath can be more flexible and be used for any number of purposes for gathering, recreation, and retail.
