Piazza Ghiberti: Housing Units (spring 2009)

Similar to the market, the housing units were developed to have an ability of manipulation. This is achieved through the use of moveable furniture/storage units, which, like the market stalls, can be arranged according to the needs of the inhabitants. When their needs have been met the furniture can be placed back against the window wall where it acts as a long window seat. The act of rearranging furniture is especially good for those studying architecture, giving them the ability to see how certain arrangements within a room can affect spatial quality. Furthering the appeal to architecture students, each apartment is equipped with pinup surfaces as well as space saving drafting tables that fold up when they are not being used.
