Griffith Art Park and Museum

In this USC graduate studio we created a Body Museum and Art park that was incorporated with the land at Griffith Park in Los Angeles.  I looked at all major areas of Griffith Park and mapped them out based on importance to Los Angeles and the Park  I found the elevation heights of each site and compared it to the height of the site given in the south-central area of Griffith Park. I took all areas within a certain radius and connected them based on type and function.  This created three zig-zag tubular structures.  I then layered them together starting with the lowest grade and moving upward.  I placed these on the site based on each areas function compared to the actual museum.  These structures played with the land by extruding outward and creating multiple vertical and horizontal spaces both indoors and out.  After determining the placement, I created program based on the museums necessity for light and space.  This determined if they were to be placed underground with very little natural light, on ground level with moderate natural light, or above where there is an abundance of natural light.
