About

In five years my goal is to use my expertise and leadership skills to steer construction companies in the direction of new technology and new trends in construction. My dream career is Vice President of Preconstruction for a commercial company. My knowledge in AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, and Autodesk Inventor will be an asset to any company.  As an officer in the Missouri State University (MSU) Construction Club I have assumed a leadership role and have been instrumental in promoting women in the department and the industry.  In my role as Treasurer and Community Service Officer for the MSU Construction Club I have a clear idea of how important good leadership is.  And by entering competitions through Associated Schools of Construction (ASC), and American Concrete Institute (ACI), I have gained experience in working on a team.

Maintaining my memberships in professional associations is also a goal after I graduate.  Being one of very few women in my department at school, another goal is to get more women involved by introducing them to the construction industry through Safety Chair/Membership in the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC) student chapter.  Knowing that there is an organization for women in construction has given me the support I can use to help me achieve my goals and I would like to share this with other women.  Recently I got accepted to NAPW (National Association of Professional Women). This organization will help train me more on leadership skills and knowledge as woman in a professional environment.

Going greener in the construction industry is not only the trend, but a necessity. LEED has played a big part in the construction industry and has continued to grow dramatically throughout the decades and will continue to be a major force in construction. My goal is to be accredited in LEED AP and continue to learn more on how green construction can make our environment and our world a better place. I want to help change the construction industry where 75% of materials are reusable.

Sometimes I feel my goals may seem a lot for someone my age to achieve. The goals I have set for myself in the construction industry as a young female will be challenging and I know I have a lot to learn.   But construction is my passion and just because I am a woman, this does not change what I know I can achieve. I know I have a big future ahead of me and I am ready for it.
