Leyuan Li is a Chinese architect, educator, and researcher whose professional and academic work focuses on interior and urban realms in the articulation of spaces and societies. He has practiced architecture internationally at OMA, SOM, and Affordable Housing Lab. He is founder of Office for Roundtable, a collaborative practice that explores architectural and interior types in relation to environmental and social issues. 

Li is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Architecture with an Emphasis on Issues of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the college, and has taught at Rice University’s School of Architecture and the University of Houston. He has been invited to lectures and reviews at UCLA, Ohio State University, Nanjing University, Syracuse University, and Rhode Island School of Design. His teaching explores the medium of interior and its objects as the catalyst to foster collective caring for social and political issues. Most recently, the housing studio he collaborated with José Ibarra has been awarded the 2024 AIA/ACSA Housing Design Education Award.

Li’s creative work and scholarship have been recognized globally. His research and writing have been presented in conferences, such as IASDR, NCBDS, and ACSA, as well as in esteemed journels, such as PLAT, New York Review of Architecture, Paprika!, Rumor, and Architecture Writing Workshop. His work and curatorial projects have been hosted and exhibited at the Denver Art Museum, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, OCAT Museum in Shanghai, and Citygroup Gallery in New York City.His recent project, Balchen, investigated entrenched ecological and cultural care for food production and was exhibited at the 9th Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in Shenzhen. His curatorial project, Your Kitchen Is Your Dining Room Is Your Greenhouse, received a DESIGN TRUST Seed Grant from the Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design and will be on display in June 2024. His ongoing collaboration with History Colorado has received multiple grants to develop a public exhibition that unearths the hidden history of Denver’s erased Chinatown.

Li is  faculty advisor for NOMAS at the University of Colorado Denver. He was chair of Exhibition for ACADIA 2023, and has collaborated with institutions such as RMIT University and the University of Hong Kong on events and exhibitions, including the 2023 ACADIA x CAADRIA Joint Exhibition. Most recently,  he has been elected to serve as the 2024-2027 ACSA Liaison to the AIAS Board.
