Ladder 7 is located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and houses one ladder truck and one engine. The focus of this design was to provide the users with full control over the light qualities in each space. The overhead large scale screening system allows light to enter the space while maintaining needed privacy barriers between adjacent buildings. An underlying glazing system encloses the structure with openings for natural ventilation. The exterior shape of the building directly reflects the changing needs of the users on a daily basis.
