Showroom / Art Museum Shanghai Fish / Studio 7 of Urban Architecture China

The site is situated in the middle of an artificial lake in the south-east of Shanghai, China. Being the first to be built and the most important out of the 5 commercial buildings planned on the site, the showroom is intended to become a remarkable landmark in the new developing area.
The circular shape of the floor plans was determined by the relation with the waterfront – a 270° water-view was obtained and the building references a lighthouse, being placed on the tip of the peninsula. The wooden flat roof will rise from the ground and become a 5 meter-high viewpoint. This way, the promenade and the landscape is combined with the nature and architecture becames a vantage point. In doing this we achieve a “cloud-like” structure for the 3rd-5th floors. The cloud`s skin is prefabricated and will be assembled locally. The vertical blinds have variation in general orientation, mostly because different interior spaces have different requirements of light. During the night, LED lights integrated in the blinds will be reflected as the surreal image of the "colorful cloud" on the lake`s surface.
