Employment

National Art Museum of China, Beijing, CN, Volunteer

In 2011, I participated in the TransLife: Media Art China, helping artists in their exhibition and communication. Through this volunteer work, I came to know more about new art media. Communicating with the German artist Ursula Damm also instilled new artistic concepts in my mind and pushed me to be more innovative. Not only did this experience push me to grow in the field of architecture and art, but they also helped me to develop a public spirit and a sense of human care both as an architecture student and citizen.

Beijing Matsubara and Architects (BMA), Beijing, CN, INTERN

I took internship in the design department of Beijing Matsubara Architects and Design Consulting Co., Ltd, during which I was mainly responsible for design drawing, 3-D model designing and consultation between manufacturers and construction side. This internship gave me the chance to put my theoretical knowledge into practice and get familiar with practical knowledge of construction process. It pushed me to better apply design concept into implementation and strengthen communication skills.

Education

University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, US, MArch, Post Professional

Based on the solid experience and education in architecture, I started to experiment in the new filed of architecture. I am interested in urban scale study, through the studies I found a new way to looking at these cities and new opportunity of design. I also did a museum project in which I got a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of architecture. During one and a half years at USC, I improved my computer skills: I started to learn software for parametric design like Processing, Arduino, grasshopper. I also took a Revit class, in which I not only knew how to use Revit but also learnt more knowledge by getting the Autodesk Building Performance Analysis Certificate. I took a lighting design class, in which I got very professional lighting knowledge and learned to use lighting design program like AGI.

China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, CN, BArch, Architecture

During undergraduate program in China Central Academy of Fine Arts, I obtained comprehensive knowledge in architecture through the courses such as Architectural Design, History of Architecture, Art Theory, System of Building Structure, Building Materials, Fundamentals of City Planning, etc. Apart from these core courses, I also took optional courses as Sketch and Chinese Calligraphy Appreciation and Practice. All these courses have enabled me to acquire a sound theoretical background and acute insights in architecture, as I got to know more about different types of architectural design (villa, bookstore, museum, school and the reconstruction of Zhonggulou District in Beijing), model making, structure, building materials, world’s classical and modern architecture as well as enhanced my artistic accomplishment and designing ability. Meanwhile, making models, drafts and repeated deliberation contribute to polish the ability of design.
