Marcos Cruz is the Director of the Bartlett School of Architecture in London where he is also Studio Master of MArch Unit 20. His varied teaching activity as a researcher, tutor and critic has been carried out at many Schools of Architecture, including University College London, University of Westminster and University of California Los Angeles. Cruz studied architecture at the ESAP Porto, while also frequenting courses at the ETSAB in Barcelona. After moving to London he gained a master's degree in Architectural Design in 1999 and later a PhD by Design research in 2007. His investigations about Neoplasmatic Architecture, which focused on a contemporary discussion about the body and the impact of bio-technology on architecture, won the RIBA President's Medals Research Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis in 2008. Cruz co-founded the atelier marcosandmarjan in 2000, combining the practice and teaching of architecture, along with experimental design research. Currently he and his partner Marjan Colletti are working on a major mixed-used project for Taipei Taiwan.
