Science Museum and Exhibition Hall

this project,  a 22,000 m² science museum and exhibition hall in Fujian, China,  was designed as a competition entry.

The proposed site for the science museum, in Fujian, China, lies near the border with Taiwan, in an area that is undergoing intense development encouraged by the Chinese government. The science museum would be just one of a number of large, institutional buildings recently completed or  currently in construction in the immediate area.

The formal concept of the building was three roughly triangular program blocks arranged to form a larger triangular building, with the gaps between the three blocks forming a large, spectacular lobby/atrium space in the center of the building. A  translucent glass skin, broken up by an irregular grid of mullions created an alluring, textured skin.
