floating landscapes - Automata New Orleans 2011

Floating landscapes was an installation sculpture built for the annual Automata kinetic art exhibition. The piece is designed with three "lanscapes" mounted on the top of a pendulum. As the arm carrying the pendulum rises from the force of a fan on the opposite side of the arm, the pendulum stays perpendicular to grade. The fans are activated by built in switches causing the pendulums to drift slowly up and down without ever hitting the ground, but alway coming within an inch or two.
