ShiftBoston Competition winter 2009

The ShiftBoston competition called for ideas that would stimulate public interest for urban design within the Boston area. The proposal was to create a bike pavilion on Newbury Street in Boston. The pavilion would be a place where people could store their bikes and shower before work. The building is a play on opposites. The verticality emphasizes the main bike storage, while the horizontal heaviness highlights the importance of the bikes. The proposal was to promote bicycle usage in Boston.
