The Forks of the Road Cultural Interpretation Center in Natchez, Mississippi is a project designed to raise public awareness of the historical and cultural importance of what was the second-largest slave market in the South. The Tulane Regional Urban Design Center assisted the forward momentum of this important opportunity.
The phased plan my team designed focused on strengthening the site one part at a time - monument, landscaping and museum. The centerpiece of the site, the monument, was modeled after artist Kara Walker’s paper cutouts depicting slavery and its aftermath.
