Gabriele Negro is an italian licensed architect, with more than 10 years of experience. Since his graduation from the Politecnico di Milano he has been involved in exhibit design and contemporary art installations. His experiences in the visual arts have enabled him to develop a sensitivity to context, an eye for detailed construction and a fascination for materials. The skills he has acquired along the way, have allowed him to extend his range of work on exhibition design, public spaces, hospitality and retail design.
For over 5 years, he collaborated as project manager with the influential Italian artist Alberto Garutti.
He worked on Garutti’s “anti-monumental” public art projects and exhibitions in several museums including PAC in Milan, MAXXI in Rome, Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Fondazione Sandretto in Turin and an outdoor light installation on the Patriarshy Bridge for the MMOMA museum in Moscow. One of the last project with Mr. Garutti was the design exhibition of his solo show in Milan curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Gabriele moved to New York in 2012 to collaborate with the internationally renowned designer Piero Lissoni in his New York based office, working on Ritz Carlton residences in Miami and the King & Grove Hotel in Manhattan. After Lissoni experience he worked with Uli Wagner, an interior design firm specialized in high-end retail design and residential projects.
With Mr. Wagner he has been leading the store concept for several fashion brand as Altuzarra, Agnona, Calvin Klein, Chantecaille, Cushnie et Ochs, Lanvin and Proenza Schouler.
He is currently working with Studio Atomic, an interior and lighting design firm based in New York.
