About

I, most recently, was an intern architect at the firm Smith Dalia Architects in Atlanta and am a graduate of the College of Architecture at Auburn University.  I am currently enrolled at Southern Polytechnic State University’s School of Computing & Software Engineering in pursuit of a Master’s of Science in Information Technology and have just completed my first year of the program.

Professionally, at the firm Smith Dalia Architects, I had the opportunity to be a component of not only the architectural studio but the Assistant Director of Information Technology.  The assistant director position gave me the opportunity to integrate the design philosophy of architecture into the best practices techniques of IT management.  My responsibilities included overall support services which encompassed help desk, networking, software/hardware purchases, yearly budgeting, and brainstorming to better integrate the technological needs into the firms workflow.  I was also charged with creating protocols and best practices for the BIM production of the firm.  This included staying up to date with latest techniques and advancements in BIM, as well as having a “brown bag” lunch and learn to get this information out to the firm on a biweekly basis.  Prior to Smith Dalia Architects, I was employed with Skidmore Owings & Merrill in New York and worked on projects such as the Four Seasons Hotel and Office in Bahrain. The project will be the tallest tower in Bahrain when completed and is the center piece of the Bahrain Bay development project that is being constructed on manmade islands off the coast of Bahrain. I have also had the opportunity to be a prepress specialist for Quad Graphics. At this position my accountability included checking colors, gathering fonts, color finishes, as well as proofing and plate making.

My past experiences include, being a veteran of the United States Navy where I performed the dutiesof an Operation Specialist for 4 years. During that time I worked within the combat information department as well as being the Combat Information Center supervisor for my last deployment in 1999. During my 4th year of the architectural program at Auburn University I was employed by the information technology department where I worked closely with professors and students to resolve software and hardware issues on all of the major operating systems. I also worked as a teacher’s assistant for software classes that included AutoCAD, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Academically at Southern Polytechnic State University, during my first year of study at the graduate level, I have taken classes on hardware based intrusion detection and prevention, IT service delivery, Web Development, Ethics in IT, and learned various programing languages.  These programing languages include HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and CSS.  I have also working knowledge of database management using SQL Server 2008.  I received my Bachelor of Architecture degree from Auburn University and mainly focused on large scale projects, mostly relating to new technologies as well as modular construction. My final thesis project was focused on the economic possibilities of identity design within the realm of architecture. I graduated with the honor of Magna Cum Laude in the spring of 2007 and was involved in 3 major honor societies including Tau Sigma Delta. I also made the dean’s list all 5years I attended Auburn University as well as received the Alpha Rho Chi bronze metal my thesis year.
