About

In all of my work, I draw upon an education in architecture and hydrology; a career in design, water resources, geosciences, and marine industries; and experiences and interests that include extensive travel, desert and marine exploration, archaeology, and more.

Though seemingly disparate, the synergy of these life experiences lead to approaching design projects from a highly contextual point of view, developing solutions that fulfill programmatic and functional requirements, while incorporating select factors that create deeper relationships between the project, the user, and the place.

One of the primary drivers in my design thinking is the influence and value of water to our well-being. The combined natural, physiological, and psychological contributions of water to life are unparalleled, and measures to meaningfully connect people to this unique entity warrant efforts well beyond the typical conservation and sustainability chatter.

Lost through the development of structures that isolate dwellers from the natural processes that surround them, the relationship with water has been reduced to the expectations of what should happen when a spigot is turned or a toilet is flushed.

Historically, vernacular architecture and community design not only accommodated but celebrated water, and it is these meaningful relationships that I am passionate about reestablishing.

I am seeking opportunities for long term relationships with individuals and firms that are interested or engaged in projects and activities that promote meaningful, beneficial connections between people, architecture, and water.
