About 

Mark Hogan AIA, LEED BD+C is a licensed architect in the states of New York, California and Montana. His primary professional interests lie in the design of  infill housing, housing policy and sustainable urban design.  Prior to joining with Ian Dunn to form OpenScope Studio, he was an Associate at David Baker Architects in San Francisco where he worked on large infill housing projects around the Bay Area and beyond. He also is a Senior Lecturer at the California College of the Arts.

Mark has also written for SPUR's magazine The Urbanist, the print and web editions of Disegno and recently wrote a feature article about San Francisco's difficulties with accommodating change for BOOM California. He was the Chair of the Housing Committee at the AIA San Francisco for several years and is an active member of the Housing Committee at SPUR. Mark holds an M. Arch. degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a BFA from the University at Buffalo

I am currently run OpenScope Studio with fellow Principal Ian Dunn.

OpenScope Studio is a San Francisco practice committed to exploring a wide range of project types at all scales, from architecture and urban planning to furniture design. The shift in size and context allows us to create informed design, and address multiple aesthetic, social, technical, and economic goals. Coming from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, we are united by a love of architecture and urbanism. We have the communication skills, technical know-how, inquisitiveness, collaborative spirit, and design skills to make places that people value. Recent work includes a cafe interior, a private home, a temporary activation project for the San Francisco Giants and a publication for the San Francisco Planning Department.
