JT Nakaoka Associates Architects, Intermediate/ project architect

Assisted on a 130 000 SF interior fit out for Forever 21 multi level retail store, with exterior
renovations in Las Vegas, Nevada. Coordinated structural/ Schindler shop drawings for escalator, with
building sections and floor plans.
Assisted on a 180 000 SF interior fit out for Forever 21 multi level retail store, with curtain wall, and
exterior glazing coordination in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Assisted on a 150 000 SF interior fit out for Forever 21 multi level retail store, with structural
coordination for new roof extension at 9F, exterior MT’l stud walls, and sky light drawings in
Beverly Center, Los Angeles. Worked on roof, building sections, floor and ceiling plans.

My experience and
responsibilities lay in a variety of projects both large and small in retail.
I was the assistant project manager for the Armani Exchange account. I also assisted on the Tommy
Hilfiger, and the Juicy Courture accounts. I worked on a curtain wall system for a Mandy store project
in Miami Dade County, and assisted on a Mandy Store curtain wall in New York City. Had some
supervisory capacity over cad operators, juniors, and worked with various building departments such
as in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Nevada, and California.

My experience and responsibilities lay in a variety of projects both large and small in institutional,
commercial, and residential design with site analysis. This included both new buildings and
renovations. Worked on a Juvenile penitentiary renovation with interior and roof surveys. Worked
on a penitentiary for inmates with good behavior with site analysis, coordinated step foundations
with structural engineer, and prepared elevations and sections. The building was an “A” frame type
building with CMU, MT’L stud walls with MT’L cladding.

Masters thesis: Based on the teachings of Morphology. A studio directed by Prof. Haresh Lalvani.
My thesis is a study of," Hybrid Cable Structures Derived From Foster." External sources such as
Heino Engel's, "Structure Systems," was included into my study.

In 1998 I joined the Bachelors and Masters combined program. The last year was spent in the Morphology
studio where we analyzed structures designed by Calatrava.
