Elementary School

Located in Watertown, Massachusetts, this elementary school is 150 students for grades kindergarten through second grade. This school emphasizes low student to teacher ratios with ten students per classroom, increasing the ability for more one on one student-teacher learning.

The inspiration for this space comes from learning throughout the school, emphasizing active learning in the corridors and passive concentrated learning in the classroom. Thick walls containing seating, storage, display cases and cubbies emphasize separation between the active and passive learning spaces. Bright colors in the circulation spaces creates an active environment while neutral calming colors in the classrooms create focused learning spaces. Shared learning spaces throughout encourage interactive and collaborative learning for students.
