About

Employment

Martha Hanlon Architects, Inc., Fairbanks, AK, US, Architect

As Martha's only employee, I've had the opportunity to engage in all aspects of the architectural process. MHAI is a full-service architectural and project management firm and while working there I've participated in several projects including healthcare, small commercial, and multi-family housing. I have appreciated working closely with Martha and benefiting from her years of experience in healthcare, and in the community. I am confident that my experience here has prepared me well for whatever my next opportunity may be. I look forward to collaborating with coworkers again and contributing to a team.

LMN Architects, Seattle, WA, US, Intern Architect

While working at LMN I enjoyed working on several fantastic projects including university buildings, performing arts centers, transportation facilities, and sports arenas. As an Intern, I'm grateful that I got to be actively involved in the design process, and I'm grateful that I got to work with so many talented and knowledgeable people.

Oswood Construction Company, Great Falls, MT, US, Intern

This was a summer job between my third and fourth years of architecture school. I performed a variety of office-support tasks including aiding the project managers in the collection, composition, and delivery of their bid proposals. In addition, I worked closely with Owner Doug Oswood on a couple of design-build projects in the office that summer: a single family home in Big Fork, MT, and a small office remodel in Kalispell, MT. I have continued to appreciate the brief glimpse into the GC's world I had that summer and it informs the positive working relationships I have with contractors today.

Education

Montana State University, Bozeman, MT, US, MArch, Architecture

My class was the last class to develop a Master's Thesis during the 5th year of study and I am very grateful for that opportunity. During that process I got to discover who I am as an artist and a thinker, and what it is I'd like my architecture to do and say. While studying as MSU I acquired some heroes, made some mistakes, had some success, and found my voice.
I try to continue learning though my formal education is complete; if there's anything I'm sure of it's that there's always more to learn--especially where architecture is concerned.
