New West Records

Built in 2004- 5,300 sq. ft.

These headquarters for an independent record label consist of executive offices, open work space, meeting room, recording studio, tape archive, lunch area, and kitchen.  The roof was designed to have skylights with large acrylic boxes to diffuse the light into the space.  The walls are open studs, stained dark brown.  Felt is layered between the stud wall and exposed plywood sheathing.  The felt gives the room texture, but also softens the acoustics.  The company wanted a space that reflected their independent musical tastes and that distinguished themselves from the slick corporate record companies.
