FLORENCE, ITALY - Design students will now have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor degree in Design at one of Italy’s leading international design schools.  For the first time Florence Institute of Design International will be offering a three-year Bachelor of Arts in Design entirely in the English language, right in the heart of historical Florence.

The design degree has received validation by the University of Chester in the United Kingdom to offer the BA(Hons). Enrolment for the degree opens June 20th 2013, and students can specialise in either Graphic or Interior Design. Announcing the new degree, FIDI Director Marc DiDomenico said, “The addition of the Bachelor of Arts to FIDI makes it one of the only design schools in Italy offering a European Bachelor degree in English” ‘The philosophy of FIDI is to provide a first-class facility offering the highest level of education and resources to design students around the world,’ Arch DiDomenico said. ‘The key is the diversity and understanding of the student set. As most applicants to the Florence Institute have studied at the finest schools in their own countries, we strive to create the same level of academic excellence, offering the highest standard in design education abroad.’
Positioned within a historic Baroque palazzo, it offers courses in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Furniture Design.

Instructing professors are highly respected architects and designers, Architect DiDomenico said, all of which bring with them different experience and styles. Methodology and curriculum are designed for the broad and diverse set of students enrolled in the various courses, with a distinct focus on personalisation of studies.  It is combined along with many other influences to promote a progressive and contemporary understanding of the creative process behind design.

The announcement of the new Bachelor degree follows on from the success of the Master and Diploma program launched in September 2008. Since its opening the school has welcomed design students from all around the world.  Located in the historical centre of Florence, Italy, the school fuses modern and traditional Florentine concepts in art and assumes the Italian artistic culture. The course content builds upon Florence’s rich history of art, culture and design while providing students with a unique international learning experience.
