Allow Me To Further Introduce Myself

    School Related:

I am a first-year second semester architecture student at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. I have been in and out of college for the past 10 years (more on that later) and now I am a thirty year old man surrounded by peole much younger than me in studio. I am involved in several different things on campus, most importantly, I work in the woodshop. The unlimited access to the tools is priceless.

    My Classes thie semester:

Design Communication 2- Digital media. Photoshop, AutoCAD, Maya, etc..
    Studio 1B- Natural Tendencies.
    History of Architecture
Intermediate Algebra- Basically it is 4th grade math. When I took the math placement test, it was the equivalent of reading trying to decode Cuneiform. I was quite good at math in high school, but that was 13 years ago. I have most of my other GE finished, but it is this math/physics/structures sequence that is going to kill me. I have taken Junior College classes sporadically over the past decade, but it was more in the line of Art History, History, Italian, various design courses; no math or science, and I am paying for it now.

Work Related- I was a professional skateboarder for the better part of my teens and twenties. I went to college when I wasn't traveling for skating. It wasn't that often. Post-skating I was a "writer". I was always working on something that I never would finish, aside from a few magazine pieces that are hardly worth mentioning. Post-writering I worked for an architect in Santa Monica. I did that for the past 4 or 5 years, and that brings us up to the present. I still do some work for the architect when I have the time, which isn't very often.

More later, there are plans and sections that are calling my name.

Hey Jason. Sounds like you've had an interesting route to architecture! I came via computer science and street art. Somehow that odd mix resolves itself in architecture!

      How'd your first semester go?

I'm also blogging over at http://www.archinect.com/schoolblog/blog.php?id=C0_205_39 - maybe have a look some time...
