This was a study model with a primary goal of familiarizing myself with the material characteristics of carbon fiber tow, and a secondary goal of testing the feasibility of suspended fabrication.  Seven pieces of curved rebar were suspended in a 2-3-2 configuration.  Patterning within this configuration was established with straight runs of carbon fiber tow setting up curved runs of tow to create areas of cross-hatching and convergence.  Resin and polycrylic was used to harden the carbon fiber.  The result is a perfectly balanced carbon fiber cage with enough stiffness to support the rebar and hold its shape.
