About

Matthew is currently the Head of Business Development and a Project Manager at HWKN. He is also a visiting professor at The University of Pennsylvania.

Since 2009 Matthew has served as the Head of Business Development and Project Manager at HWKN (Hollwich Kushner) in New York. This includes his role as Project Manager of BOOM Communities. BOOM is a progressive series of communities being built around the world that brings together the best architects, researchers, engineers and policy-makers from around the globe. By structuring the brand as a highly collaborative process between a client, 15 architects and a crowd-sourced community effort, BOOM is redefining design for aging and urbanism. Matthew has personally been featured in the Los Angeles Times and Fox News for his involvement with BOOM.

Matthew has previously collaborated with C-LAB, The Columbia Laboratory for Architectural Broadcasting, an experimental research unit devoted to the development of new forms of communication in architecture, set up as a semi-autonomous think and action tank at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University.

ART MEADOW is a design studio located in New York City, founded in 2009 by Matthew Hoffman. Art Meadow takes both its title and its launching point from his award-winning thesis, which predicated a new preoccupation with architecture as a communication tool. Since founding Art Meadow, Matthew has explored ideas that go beyond form-making to focus on uncovering new opportunities for design to encourage interaction.

Matthew's work has been featured by The Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, NBC, Fast Company, Fox Business News and the Wall Street Journal.

Art Meadow, New York, NY, US, Founder

ART MEADOW is a design studio located in New York City, founded in 2009 by Matthew Hoffman. Art Meadow takes both its title and its launching point from his award-winning thesis, which predicated a new preoccupation with architecture as a communication tool. Since founding Art Meadow we have explored ideas that go beyond form-making to focus on uncovering new opportunities for design to encourage interaction.

We detected a misfit between architecture and the rest of the world by observing how architects only talk to each other - and I set out to change that. Within the process we discovered new opportunities for design to engage the public by focusing on socializing opportunities that can be applied for the benefit of everyone.

Each project is an experiment. Each project takes fun very seriously. Each project aims to be audacious enough to ignite imaginations. Because as soon as we are able to look at things through a new lens, we're able to create a future for everyone that is a little bit better.

Matthew's work has been featured by The Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, NBC, Fast Company, Fox Business News and the Wall Street Journal.
