The Conference opens with a reception at 5:30 pm at the Ace Hotel on Thursday, May 9 and will end at 10:00 am on Sunday, May 12.

The Conference hotel is the Riviera Palm Springs Resort & Spa.

The tours will give us the opportunity to explore the distinct modern architecture that developed in this desert setting in the middle 20th century.   The tours are in the planning stages and are subject to change.  Some of the projects we will visit are:

    Menrad Residence by William Krisel
    Desert One by Jim Jennings
    Steel Houses by Don Wexler
Grace Miller House by Richard Neutra
Abernathy House by William F. Cody
    Hotel Lautner by John Lautner
L'Horizon Hotel by William F. Cody
    Southridge Residence  William F. Cody
    Marmol Radziner Prefab Desert house

Additionally, we will have a number of architects speaking.   Addressing the topic of regional modernism will be William Krisel, Jim Jennings, Steven Ehrlich, Leo Marmol and Don Wexler.   Also joining the conversation will be Lance O’Donnell- a local Palm Springs architect who has worked with both Bill Krisel, and Don Wexler who will talk about designing modern buildings throughout the valley.    Moderating these conversations will be Sidney Williams, Curator of Architecture and Design for the Palm Springs Art Museum, and daughter-in-law to the late E. Stewart Williams.

The closing dinner and annual Member Slideshow will be held at the Sunnylands Visitor Center and Garden.  We will be joined by the Visitor Center’s architect Fred Fisher and landscape architect Jim Burnett.  The two will speak about Palm Springs design.
