Egyptian Funerary Arts Gallery & Ancient Near East Gallery MFA

14,000 s.f. renovation of existing galleries designed to provide context to the museum’s collections and to help visitors understand and appreciate some of the world’s most important civilization's.

Special fiber-optic lighting is utilized to illuminate artifacts in environmentally controlled display cases, to reduce heat output from incandescent lighting, minimize color change effects due to lamping, and dramatically light the objects without causing ultra-violet damage. Unique design of the display in collaboration with the Museum conservators was a dramatic change for the MFA, as well as provides a level of seismic protection for the artifacts.
